Sleeping Dogs - Wellington rockers Supermodel are teaming up with Christchurch wave-makers Sleeping Dogs in an eight-date tour throughout the North Island this summer. In a new manifestation of the Live and Loud Tour which tookSleeping Dogs throughout the South for 30 liver-bending shows in 2011, the newly recruited Supermodel join the crusade to bring rock to the masses as the final days of summer protest the onset of colder weather.
Supermodel are riding the wave of their successful debut album, To the Mountains released in September 2011 and are a highly experienced live outfit. Supporting some of our country’s finest musical exports includingMidnight Youth and Gin Wigmore, Supermodel are right at home playing to a packed out pub or to a crowd of 15,000. Their focus is melody, harmony and a rocking tune and having a brother and sister fronting the band makes for an excellent live dynamic that should not be missed.
Sleeping Dogs are currently writing their sophomore album from their custom-built studio in Christchurch and are keen for more adventure. A recent foray to the North Island whetted the interest of both the band and their audiences and now they are back to deliver their musical message to the full. Technically adept and melodically interesting, Sleeping Dogs write powerful and dramatic songs. Fans of epic rock music must see this band.

Sat 4: Shotgun Alley - $10 - SHOTGUN ALLEY formed mid 2009 and by Feb 2010 the band made their second trip to the United States, where they tracked the bulk of the music for their debut album "Shotgun Alley" at Red Bull HQ in Santa Monica, Los Angeles. They had already completed a New Zealand tour and played with Alice Cooper and Steel Panther so things were looking bright for the six-piece.
They then came back to complete another New Zealand tour, opening for Slash at NZ’s G-Taranaki Festival. In December 2010, singer RJ Kairua and the band decided to part ways. After a short break the band was back into the studio at Red Bull HQ, Auckland, with all guns blazing and a new singer, Australian born, Mark Falcon.
“We couldn’t have asked for a better fit,” said Jimmy Wong, with Davie Love describing him as “The weapon we've been looking for!!” So with the enthusiasm of all the boys and a new friendship moulding, an NZ tour and opening for ZZ Top in April 2011 helped solidify that.
After the release of their 80's-influenced, heavy pop-rock record on October 3rd, they have recently opened for Def Leppard at Vector Arena in Auckland, acting as the springboard for their full New Zealand tour, stretching from Auckland, right down to Dunedin 2011. In 2012 they are now a five-piece and stronger than ever, playing the Beyond The Black Festival to bring in the new year and Homegrown Festival in February. Their follow up album to their self titled debut can be expected mid 2012.
